“If you caught her in OSTC’s Victor/Victoria, you already know how adept Eden Casteel is at changing personas on a dime, and that skill, along with her incredible voice, makes her a captivating ringmaster (and president). She carefully and seductively acts as a mirror for the criminals’ mental fractures, pushing them past their breaking points and then standing before them, daring them to do their worst.”
“At the heart of CTC’s production is Eden Casteel, who . . . brings a star power and kinetic energy to this fascinating persona, offering a virtuoso performance which drives the show’s momentum as relentlessly as Mama Rose drives her children.
Her talents as a musician lead her directly into the pit to play piano – she even at one point grabs an accordion for accompaniment. Casteel’s natural soprano signing voice also brings new shades and dimension to well-known numbers. Casteel delivers glimpses of Rose’s hope, desperation, defiance, and regret.”

“Casteel has a special way about her in this performance. Her emotions are easily read even when the spotlight is on someone else. . . . Casteel grounds the show and brings comfort by sacrificing her own peace of mind.”

I played lonely Italian housewife Francesca Johnson in Jason Robert Brown's romantic musical version of the popular novel by Robert James Waller. Francesca is near and dear to me, vocally and emotionally. Performances were April-May 2018 at the Chestnut Street Playhouse in Norwich, CT. With Zach Wobensmith as photographer Robert Kincaid, and Kevin Ladd as Richard "Bud" Johnson.

“Victor/Victoria is a show that demands a versatile, strong female lead. She has to have a high soprano voice. Bonus points for a good British accent. Must dance, must be engaging, must be able to pass as male or female.
Director Amiee Turner hit the jackpot. Eden Casteel, an Ohio transplant turned local vocal coach, is perfect. Her Received Pronunciation is pretty much the only accurate accent in the production. Her voice is beautiful, her comic timing is spot on, and, once she loses the long dark wig, Casteel makes a very attractive vision in menswear.”

“Jason Shealy’s taciturn demeanor is the perfect foil for Eden Casteel’s expressive, passionate turn as Mrs. Lovett. Their simmering relationship is played more openly than the Broadway production, full of clever bits of business. Their voices are uniformly excellent. This is a challenging score. . . both Shealy and Casteel deliver with power, range, and expressive vocals. Their duets, particularly “A Little Priest,” are an absolute delight.”
